When our son was born 12 weeks early he went straight to the NICU. We were not first-time parents, but this was our first NICU experience. The first night home we called to check on our son and Sam was his nurse. We met Sam for the first time that next morning when we went in to visit.
Sam had our son as her patient for several days in a row and asked us if she could be his primary nurse. We very quickly agreed. Sam took notice of every little detail regarding our son. She made special signs for every milestone he hit. He had 3 surgeries while he was in NICU and Sam prepared and escorted him to surgery each time. Sam often picked up overtime to be with him. She was a huge advocate for him. She was always eager to take our phone calls when we could not be there with him. Sam made our 107 day NICU stay much more pleasant and she will always be special to our family.
