I had the privilege of working with Jeanne during the 6 years I was a staff RN on 5100 unit. I was in awe of her ability to juggle the ever-increasing demands of the unit, plus a demanding home life, with an apparent ease and ALWAYS with a smile on her face. She was, and remains, a wealth of clinical knowledge who helped me immensely as a new RN. She moves seamlessly between roles as RN, educator, and charge nurse.
Our paths crossed again when my husband was unexpectedly hospitalized in 2019. After 4 days in ICU care, he was stable enough to transfer to a regular unit and he had the extreme luck of landing on 5100 unit. Jeanne was his assigned RN during his stay on 5100, including the ever-complicated day of discharge. My husband's hospitalization was complicated and there were many providers involved and medication changes throughout his stay. As an RN myself, it was very overwhelming to try to navigate his changing health requirements while supporting him as his wife and caregiver, all while operating on minimal sleep. Jeanne was our saving grace! Her goal with each patient isn't about completing her documentation but making sure each person receives her 100% dedication to their best health and outcome. I was completely at ease knowing Jeanne was appropriately questioning the sometimes contradictory orders by multiple providers and refused to settle for answers that fell short of her expectations to offer her best care.
I cannot emphasize enough how grateful my husband and I are for the quality of care Jeanne provided every minute of her shift. And as a fellow RN, how proud I am that she provides that same dedication and care to each patient and family member who is fortunate enough to have her assigned to their care.
