After our son was born, it was discovered that he had a hole in his diaphragm which required surgery as his intestines and liver moved into his chest and were crushing his lungs. We were an emotional mess and Liz was our first nurse and cared for our son T for most of his time in the NICU.
Liz instantly put us at ease taking the time to explain what every tube, line, and monitor did, and answer our nonstop questions, and constantly monitored him to make sure he was getting the best care possible. In addition, she always encouraged us to treat him like a normal baby, reading him books and singing to him which really helped us bond with him even more. Her bedside manner not only helped comfort us parents during an extremely stressful and emotional time, but she also was incredible around our son T, comforting him and really taking care of him as if he were her own child.
We were finally able to take T home today and I don't think we would have emotionally been able to get through this without Liz. Words can't describe how amazing she is and our gratitude. Thank You, Liz; you are amazing.
