Hannah exemplifies all of Memorial Hermann's values and shares these values with the rest of her team members on 3A. She leads her team by example and never asks anything of anyone she wouldn't do herself. Hannah is able to handle the most stressful of situations with positivity and composure. She believes in collaboration, courtesy, and compassion and you can see all of these traits in her demeanor whether she is in a patient's room or in the lunch area.
Hannah strives for excellence in nursing care and drives her unit to practice to the highest extent of their license. She always challenges the staff to take one step further. This motivation and drive for high-quality care have proven 3A-IMU to be a diverse unit that takes on challenging patients and hosts some of the most acute patients in the hospital.
In addition, the relationship and the connections that she forms with her staff are remarkable. She knows something special about all of her staff members (i.e kid's names, food preferences, pet peeves). She always treats her staff members like her family and stresses that in our professional career, "family comes first". Her kind and caring attitude have created an atmosphere on 3A where employees feel comfortable discussing issues with her and open with her. Recently, my toddler was sick and Hannah was the one who pushed me to leave work and be home with him. I can't think of any other manager who would be so flexible and so understanding.
In addition to forming connections with team members, Hannah has a special talent for creating special bonds with patients. She makes it a point to round on patients and sit with them and talk about things they like to do when they are home. Patients remember her visiting them and have even mentioned her by name in letters and surveys.
Hannah is a truly exemplary leader and an asset to Memorial Hermann. It is a privilege to be a part of her team. Under her leadership, 3A has made strides whether it is in quality care or patient experience. She is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
