I was called to assist the nurses on this floor. I wasn't sure what I would be walking into for it was a unit unknown to me. I arrived to find two long-term critical patients coding at the same time and I saw nothing short of amazing!
The nursing care Melissa provided to her patient in their final hours was exceptional. Everything from coding her patient for hours, involving the patient's family the best way she possibly could, despite the barriers in place due to restricted visitation, to ensure that they had a chance to say goodbye went above and beyond anything I had ever seen. Melissa held her hand while singing hymns until she passed, all while wearing full PPE gear.
Melissa is new to the profession and she who brought tears to my eyes and brought me to write this. It was her beautiful soul and selfless act that leads me to believe she is a true DAISY Nurse. Thank you for all you do. It was my honor to work alongside you!
