With all the negativity in the world today, I would like to take a moment to shine a light on a truly exceptional nurse and acknowledge all the kindness and good she has brought to her patients and co-workers. Tonight, during a huge rush in the ER, I got 3 patients at one time. They all required specific attention including bedside monitoring, IVs, medications, multiple lab tests such as blood, urine, and swabs, IV fluids, orthostats, etc. As hard as I tried, I felt like I could not get my head above water. Then, out of nowhere, Julie comes to save the day. She said "I've been in your shoes. I've got you!" Although she had a very hectic patient load herself and could have taken this time to catch her breath and take a break, she instead came to my rescue. And she had a smile on her face the whole time. She is absolutely genuine with her patients and you can see the love she has for her profession any time you are blessed enough to witness that interaction.
Tonight, we had some very sick patients who didn't feel good and were not the nicest to any of the staff members. But that did not affect, for one second, the amazing and loving care that Julie provided to each and every one of them. Someone once said, "I'd rather have a terrible night with a great team, than a great night with a terrible team." Let me tell you, if Julie is working, I know that no matter what comes through those ER doors, I have a great teammate who will have my back, and the patients will have an advocate to love them and fight for them. Julie is truly an asset to CRMC and we are so lucky to have such a sweet, loving, beautiful soul caring for our patients.
