Mindy exemplifies the core values of our Christ-centered ministry through her service to others. As Paul writes in Philippians 2:3-4, "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others in better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests but also for the interest of others" (NKJV). After more than 30 years of service and dedication to nursing, Mindy continues to put others' needs before her self-interest.
Most recently, Mindy has offered to serve in various areas within the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI). Whether a need arises in cardiac rehab, cath holding, or the cardiac cath lab, she is always willing to help. This flexibility and willingness to serve is a selfless act of kindness. As Mindy once said, "put me anywhere you need me. I'll help any way I can." Such a remark is an extraordinary team player. Combining her skill and expertise with a great attitude is a manager's dream! So much so, Mindy is the inspiration behind creating the new position of CVI RN. The CVI RN is a cross-trained nurse that will serve across all the subspecialties within CVI.
May I add that Mindy offers her knowledge and skill to help in multiple areas, and she has also contributed to teaching our new hires, I can't think of a more compassionate team player to role model for newly hired nurses. Often, during leader rounds, Mindy's patients provide a compliment for her. Her excellence will help shape the future of the department. It gives me great pleasure to provide well-deserved recognition for such a dedicated nurse. Mindy is a true DAISY Nurse.
