Sasha Vega-Honores is truly one of the best things that has happened to our CVOR team. Sasha comes in each morning with a positive attitude, radiating with happiness. Her happiness is contagious, and she deserves to be recognized for her compassion, outstanding performance, and positive attitude.
We had a patient that was emergently transferred from the ED with CPR in progress and was pronounced dead shortly upon arrival to the operating room. After the entire team left for the day, Sasha stayed behind to help me prepare our patient's body for the family members to say their goodbyes. She gently wiped blood from her face, placed warm blankets across her body, and treated her with the utmost dignity and respect, as I know she would for every patient. Rather than taking off with the rest of her team that day, she chose to stay and ensure that the needs of her patient and her patient's family were taken care of. Sasha is truly an example of Saint Alphonsus mission and core values.
