I wanted to reach to you and tell you about an employee in the ICU that went above and beyond and completely stands out as a grand slam. We had a terrible tragedy with a car accident where multiple alerts came into the ER with multiple teenagers critically injured. I spent a better part of 5 hours in the trauma bay with our first trauma alert. The patient was very critical, and I was having a hard time getting this patient to the ICU for various reasons.
I called the ICU from the bedside to give a report and reached Megan. What a complete joy to speak to. Not only did she take a report on the spot, but she also knew I was having a difficult time at the bedside, so she came down to the ER at the bedside to review the patient with me. She helped me troubleshoot the A-line, reviewed all the systems with me, and helped with the plan of care. This was a total team effort, and I cannot put into words how much of a difference the collaboration made in the care of this patient. The patient-centered care, teamwork, and positive work environment that Megan displayed that night I will not forget. I felt a sense of relief knowing I had an ICU nurse on my team and helping me stabilize a very critical patient.

Megan always goes out of her way to do what is best for the patient. Positivity and professionalism are always how she drives her care. Putting the patients first and improving life. She does not take no for an answer, seeks out alternatives, and believes in teamwork.
