Lori took extra efforts in the care of a patient with advanced pancreatic cancer. She worked to coordinate testing to help identify treatment options. She took the time to decrease the patient's anxiety and control her symptoms. She also took extra steps to respond to family members that had lots of anxiety during the patient's treatment when they were fearful of the blue "chemo" gown. Lori explained the procedures and about the equipment to an inquisitive child family member. Another nurse expressed that for most other nurses this would be a "level 4" activity- but Lori did it so easily gracefully it would be a "3" for her. Lori exemplifies oncology nursing by integrating both the patient and the family in her care. The family specifically called out Lori and the infusion team in her obituary, showing how much they valued her care.
