This is not about 1 patient in particular but it is about all the patients with COVID-19 who have been admitted to the hospital. Bethany has worked diligently as the Certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse to prevent pressure injuries in the patients who are prone for extensive (16 hours) periods of time. Bethany has researched trusted professional websites for available information and contacted her colleagues to discuss ideas. Bethany has made guideline posters, provided education to the nurses, assisted the nurses with pressure injury prevention care, rounded in all the COVID units on a daily basis, and assisted other staff members with pressure injury prevention from masks. Bethany has spent countless hours cutting different densities of foam and sewing them into pillows to use to relieve pressure while patients are prone. She has worked extra hours to meet with night shift nurses to discuss and demonstrate pressure injury prevention.
