Emylee is the star of the dream team because she saved my son's life. When Emylee started her shift on she paid very close attention to what was going on with him. She monitored his fever very closely and when it spiked to 105 degrees she found the doctor on call who was nearby and brought her into the room. The doctor was able to see that surgery needed to be done and right away. Observations about a drain clearly indicated the infection was not clearing up. The doctor, who is more than amazing, took my son into surgery for 5 hours. So far the surgery has been successful, but none of this would have been possible without Emylee who was paying close attention and cared for my son.
I asked my son and his wife what made Emylee so special. They said that she was happy, friendly and caring. She made them comfortable with her words, tone of voice and kindness. She asked questions and listened to answers. She treated them like she would treat family; like my son was her brother. They knew she had their best interest in mind at all times. She discussed things with them, never talked to them or barked orders. She explained what was going on and what the different medicines were for. When she came in to change an IV, she told them about it and what the IV would do.
The day after surgery she was his nurse again. She kept a close eye on him and advocated for him when his medicines were being discussed. I am so grateful that Emylee was his nurse.
