When you look at the recent history of Rutland Regional Medical Center, you find the meteoric rise of Rutland Regional to national and international acclaim through our awards and recognition for superior patient care. Although many hands have helped make this work possible, Magnet status reflects the desire and motivation of our CNO, Carol Egan. Rutland's initial and re-designation as a Magnet facility reflects the commitment Carol has for this organization and the people who work here. Her recognition of the talent and passion of the staff drove her and others to strive to reach a level of excellence where our accomplishments would be recognized and celebrated as one of the best of the best.
We include the word unsung as one of the many adjectives that could be used to describe Carol. Look at where she is when it's time to recognize the organization's accomplishments. She is always there, by lifting up those around her and shining a light on their hard work. Carol has elevated so many of us in our positions and has recognized the excellence of not only the entire staff but also the individual contributors. Using a model of shared governance and steward leadership, she has nurtured the leaders of today and increasingly of tomorrow to a point where her legacy will continue to influence this organization well into its bright future.
We are willing to bet that upon reading this letter, Carol would deflect this praise and once again mention all of the hard work that others have done while minimizing her role and influence. She is a steadying force, a constant guide, our cherished friend, and is being recognized for her accomplishments. We submit our strongest recognition and recommendation of Carol Egan for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
