Being a float pool (resource RN) is hard work, you don't have a home floor, you are like an invisible nurse, here today and gone today. Recently, a code blue was called on the unit about an hour before shift change. I went across the hall to assist. I was active in the code, so I stayed to help the nurse complete her documentation and other things that needed to be done. The nurse was a new RN, and it was their first code. I figured when I returned to that unit I would be late leaving because I had my own patients to medicate with AM meds before giving report. It was well after 0730 and I was exhausted. Imagine my surprise when all of my meds were given, another was medicated for pain and another changed. All I had to do was give report. The two RNs who assisted me were gone. I have been a float RN for many years and I have never experienced this level of teamwork without asking. Thank you, Christopher and Danny.
