Grace has demonstrated multiple episodes of very meaningful care that truly makes a difference in the quality of care that is provided to our patients! The pride that she carries for the work she does applies to all of my encounters with her, not just one. Whenever Grace is the primary RN of one of our patients, she gracefully and professionally makes suggestions as an advocate for the patient while maintaining respect for the provider. She may ask, "Would you consider something for pain for this patient?" or "Would you consider a dietary supplement for this patient?" Grace goes out of her way to collaborate with the provider about the patient while rounding on the unit, and always provides very professional updates to the provider and patient as well as any family members. She provides this care consistently on each and every patient that I have experienced with her, so it is hard to focus on just one encounter, but there is a specific patient which the family was struggling with the direction of care (meaning DNR, comfort care, etc.). Grace made sure she involved every discipline and family member in the decision to pursue or not pursue aggressive management, and she did it so gracefully. There was not one ounce of judgment in her words or actions. This is meaningful patient care.
