Renee is an outstanding co-worker. Last spring and summer, we were merged with 5 East and Renee served as a resource nurse for many of those shifts. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone and everyone, whether it was transporting a patient, medication administration, admissions, or ensuring nurses were able to go to lunch. She is task-oriented; she makes sure to spend time at the bedside with the families getting to know them, talking to them, bonding with them, and gaining their trust. Whenever we have questions about diabetes, Renee is our Go-To because she has taken the time to become familiar with the disease process. I have always been very impressed by the amount of bedside teaching she does with our new-onset diabetics, making sure the families feel comfortable and capable upon discharge. She is an outstanding nurse and co-worker. She truly has a huge heart of gold. I cannot think of a better recipient of the DAISY Award than Renee Neiner who has dedicated her life to CHOA and her patients.
