Shannell recently assisted a patient in getting needed care that showed going above and beyond. A patient had been becoming increasingly anxious over the last several weeks. This patient visited our clinic by appointments and walking in without an appointment numerous times, also had numerous visits to the Emergency Room. Each visit the patient had different medical complaints and denied it was his anxiety. Each time this patient truly felt like he was dying. Several visits with social workers and psychiatrists also occurred during this time frame. On January 4 this patient again walked in to the clinic with health complaints and was very anxious. Shannell was the triage nurse that day and made a definite connection with the patient. She spent an hour and forty-five minutes getting this patient the help he needed. Her dedication, perseverance, professionalism and caring attitude toward the patient enabled him to see that being admitted for anxiety was the best option for him. This patient is also hearing impaired and required even more communicating because of his hearing deficit. Shannell treats every patient every time, regardless of the amount of time!
