Leigh, who works on Main 5 at Harrisburg Hospital, was recognized by a colleague who witnessed her tireless commitment to patient advocacy. Leigh recently cared for a patient whose secondary diagnosis, pain, could have become problematic and put her at risk while in the hospital. Even while the patient received medical care from her colleagues, Leigh checked in to make sure the patient's pain was under control and both she and her family were educated about her situation so a specific plan would be established. The patient was elated that Leigh cared so much to ensure her independence in and out of the hospital. Upon discharge, they presented Leigh with flowers of gratitude for serving as a role model.
