If there is anyone who exemplifies all of the qualities of an ED nurse it is Jamie Culhane. She arrives every day with a smile and boundless energy, offering to help with any task. She is one of the kindest and most compassionate nurses in the department. She is often assigned to our psychiatric rooms, which presents a variety of unique issues and always maintains a calm demeanor and a therapeutic approach. She excels with this population and can often de-escalate violent patients. She is also wonderful with depressed and suicidal patients. She is fantastic with patients, families, and friends, offering to help anyone, anytime regardless if they are her patients or not. She is ever-present when really sick patients come in, lending a hand in any way she can. She is one of the best ED nurses.
