Jane is a very caring nurse in the OR. It is very difficult to pinpoint just one example, because she exudes caring and skill everyday she is at work in the operating room. Jane was a surgical tech that chose to go back to school to become a registered nurse. She worked very hard to gain the skills to become an operating room nurse. She joined the Association of Operating room nurses, and continues to keep her skills up to date, and is continually learning about what is new and cutting edge in the world of surgery. She took her career one step further and chose to take the test for national certification and became one of the first nurses to be certified in the operating room here at Finley (CNOR). Jane works mainly in the eye room, but is qualified to work in any specialty in the OR, even taking on the responsibility of charge nurse when needed. Jane talks very freely with her surgical patients, making them feel at ease before their procedures. She always thinks about the comfort of the patient, by getting them a warm blanket or their overall safety in the OR. She is certainly a true patient advocate when it comes to the surgical patient. She values each patient and treats them with the utmost care and dignity, paying close attention to their every need. Jane is definitely a team player and a leader in the OR arena. She is in the preceptor program and works to mentor new orientees in the OR as well as help the older more experienced staff. Jane is the whole package when it comes to OR nursing. She is here because she cares deeply for the welfare of the patient and ultimately wants the best outcome for each one.
