We had a great showing of caring, empathy and absolute true human spirit tonight. A family came in tonight that had a car wreck, a total loss. This family had two very young children with them, ages 5 months and 22 months. No one was hurt thankfully, but they pretty much lost everything they had with them. Bottles, clothes, and the biggest thing, two car seats. Their car seats were ruled unusable by the police due to the accident. After several phone calls, a hint of good luck, and some extreme generosity from our staff, we were able to secure two car seats for this family. Our nursing and doctor staff initially all donated money and were going to go get two seats from Walmart at 3:30 in the morning. We made some calls and were able to locate one in the hospital which we were given permission to give to this family by our awesome CEO, Simon. Next, one of our recent new mothers decided to donate her extra infant seat to the cause. After a few more quick calls to her husband and some convincing she wasn't bringing home an extra baby, we secured the other seat for this family as well as a few sippy cups, bottles and clothing for these babies. It was an awesome day and it filled my heart with all their acts of kindness.
