A patient presented to the Emergency Department with stroke symptoms. He is well known to the community of Boynton Beach; an urban outdoorsman who is frequently seen by the staff on their way to and from work. He suffered a stroke and was admitted to our West campus. He was the kindest man and appreciative to all of the staff. When it came time for admission, he was reluctant. He has a pet dog "Chiquita" who is his companion and did not want to leave her. Carla reassured him that she would care for his dog during his hospital admission. She took the dog into her home, had her groomed and even fed her filet mignon! She came in on her days off to bring the dog in for pet visitation (per policy) to see her owner. She reassured him that his dog was in good hands.
