I had a very unexpected and extensive back surgery that caused me to be a patient for nine days. Complete bed rest was demanded and ordered by the doctor. Ally really showed love, compassion, and dignity on my hardest night. I was so miserable during her shift. I am sure I drove her crazy. She was quick to give me my pain meds and to do her very best to make me comfortable. I was alone, restless, discontent, uncomfortable even crying to have her admit me to the ICU. Ally used a kind tone to reassure me that I was going to be alright. She sat with me in the dark and dried my tears. She gave me strength to sustain. Truthfully, that night I thought dying was surely coming upon me. Now that I am home and much better, I see even more what she did for me that evening. May we all do our jobs with such grit, gratitude, and grace and Ally.
