I am from Canada and have always heard about how amazing St. Jude Hospital is. Only when my 6-year-old son was diagnosed with brain cancer did I realize just how special it is. One nurse, in particular, deserves an abundance of recognition.
The care Denise provided exceeded anything we have experienced. She always supported my son in a professional, kind, and caring manner. She is very positive and passionate about her nursing role. She provided exceptional care to my son during several treatments, always going above and beyond. From providing him with warm blankets, helping him feel comfortable with his central port, providing toys and movies that he enjoyed, she always assured my son every step of the way that he was in good hands. My son really connected with her because he trusted her, and she made the treatments easier for him. She was also very kind to my sister and me during these difficult weeks. She was very sweet, welcoming, and always gave us a suggestion on activities, sites, and fun things to do in the city.
All the nurses at St. Jude have been amazing but there is something special about Denise. Every time the doors opened, and we were welcomed into the proton, we were always extra happy and at ease when it was Denise welcoming us. She made this really hard experience easier for me and my family. Everyone should be blessed with a nurse like her. Thank you so much!
