Deborah offered the most personal care to my father, who just turned 87, with his regular blood transfusions. Despite his confusion and often conflicting information from the doctors at his cancer center, she makes sure my dad gets what he needs and often much more. Just this week she offered to help him get a ride to and from the hospital as he can't drive. Deborah has become friends with my father at a time when loneliness is one of his biggest health concerns. For my sisters and I trying to look after him and monitor his situation from far away, she has been so willing to help. Just this week, watching her look after his needs, joking and making him smile, prodding him to take better care of himself, while at the same time efficiently managing his transfusion was a great comfort.
