I am a patient at 8 Tower. I came to the Emergency Room with severe neck pain. I was sent to 8 Tower where I met my nurse, Richard. I was waiting to be transported to MUSC in Charleston and I needed to text my son to let him know I had broken my neck. However, because of my neck pain, I could not pick up my phone to text my son. Richard offered to help me and typed every word I said and then read me back his responses. He was awesome and made me feel so much better to be able to keep my son informed of my situation.
Fast forward to this past weekend; Richard helped me clean up. He gave me the closest shave, haircut, and cleaned me in places I could not reach because I have on a Halo. I have had on my Halo since my surgery 3 months ago. I feel so great after my nurse helped me get clean. I get out of bed more, and now feel better about myself because of his help. Richard went out of his way to spend quality time with me and helped me above and beyond his normal duties. I cannot thank him enough!
