Penny was honored with the DAISY Award for her truly caring nature for each patient. She was "committed to sit" and always took the time to sit with her patients getting to know them. Penny had a servant heart towards her role and gave her best to her patients and fellow caregivers. Patients referred to her as informative, compassionate, and kind.
At the ceremony Dr. Carr spoke about her sense of humor and how much she respected Penny and her devotion, knowing that her patients were in great hands. She also spoke about how much time Penny gave to her patients while taking the time to laugh with her colleagues. Dr. Malik wrote a poem in Penny's memory that spoke to Penny's nature and how missed she will be by everyone whose lives she touched.
The loss of Penny will be felt greatly, but her memory inspires everyone who knew her. Having her as part of our hospital family was truly a privilege. She will be deeply missed by all.
