Michael Nafso has worked for William Beaumont Royal Oak Hospital since 08/15/2005. The 5 Center staff said one thing about Mike receiving the DAISY Award, "Well deserved"! This speaks volumes to the respect that Michael has on the unit. Mike started out as a Unit Clerk on 5 center Nephrology where he soon became the go-to person for information and help on the unit. Mike was encouraged to go to Nursing School by his peers, family, and friends and was accepted into Oakland Community College Nursing program. He became a nurse tech on 5 Center in 2012 and graduated from nursing school in 2014. Mike stood out as a nurse who was focused on patient and family-centered care from the beginning. Mike makes caring connections with patients and families and is often mentioned in Saluting Our Stars or in positive comments on the HCAHPS. This is no surprise as Mike values family and has listed spending time with family and friends as one of the things that he loves to do on his days off besides watching sports. Mike is currently finishing up his Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Ohio University and plans to pursue an advanced degree in nursing from there. I have no doubt that Mike will succeed at any endeavor in his career that he chooses as he is a devoted nurse who cares deeply for his patients.
