Joel was amazing! I felt he cared about the parents as much as the patient. Every time he was in the room he asked us if we needed anything and if we were okay. He genuinely cared for the well-being of my son and my family. When my son was asleep he would try and keep him asleep while doing his job. We will never forget how great he was with our son. We will forever be grateful. He showed my husband how to clear our son's nose with the suction, he is very happy with this tool. My son may not remember due to him only being 9 months old, but we will be sure to tell him of this amazing nurse who was with us in a time of need.

Joel listened to me as a parent and respected my opinion, not only relying on his medical knowledge for decision making but also trusting that I know my child. He would take into account the things I was telling him from my past experiences as well as the present. He not only listened but cared and that made all the difference in the correct diagnosis for my son. His compassion for my son was as if he has known him forever. He jumped right in and treated my 9-month old like the baby he is, rather than a patient. At one point I woke up to him clucking and making my son laugh while performing a simple diaper change. That in itself was so comforting to see that it gave me immediate trust in him. Trust that he earned and kept the entire time while my son was in his care. I can't explain how important that is when you as a parent of a sick child behind a cage are scared and usually alone. It's completely comforting. He was so amazing and I hope to have him as our nurse every time we visit.

My son has been in the hospital three times this year and each time we had Joel. Joel is very kind and considerate and very attentive to my needs as a parent and to my son's needs as a patient. He goes above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
