I would like to thank Debbie for her help on the transport of a critical baby at Metroplex. We received a call from Dr. F in the evening stating that he had a baby that needed to be transported to our NICU. This baby was very sick and in need of immediate intensive care and stabilization. To mobilize the transport team and to have them drive out to Metroplex takes 30-45 minutes. I decided to give Debbie a call, since she lives in the Killeen area, to see if she would be willing to go to Metroplex to help stabilize the baby with Dr. F. Debbie had been working the night before and had the day off of work that Saturday. When I called Debbie and asked if she could help, she said yes without hesitation. She helped to intubate and put in umbilical lines, having the baby ready for transport when the team arrived with the transport incubator. Debbie also accompanied the baby back to the NICU. The baby was ready for evaluation when he arrived at the NICU. The baby was found to have a heart defect and transferred to TCH.
When people go above and beyond what is expected, I believe that deserves to be shared through our leadership. Debbie is such a valuable member of our group for so many reasons: she is dependable, knowledgeable, skilled, pleasant, and has an impeccable work ethic and character. Thank you again, Debbie, for doing such a great job for our team and for this little patient.
