Becky and I had a somewhat brief, but so important, time together. She wasn't even my nurse on the day I delivered, but I guess she was on the floor. I know the nurses tend to help each other. But she was still so willing to come in and help. After being aggressively poked multiple times by a different nurse trying to put in my IV, Becky came in to save the day. She placed the least painful IV of my life, all while telling me about her life, connecting with me and keeping my mind off of the pain. I was so impressed by her demeanor and her relaxed and calm spirit.
During my delivery, she came along and was one of the reasons that my son is here and alive today. With his shoulder dystocia, Becky helped do the McRobert's maneuver and then jumped up on my bed and applied serious suprapubic pressure, to help get my son out. And through it all, her calm demeanor remained. She was not only mentally and emotionally invested in my delivery, but physically as well. I can never thank her enough for her quick thinking and professionalism in this field. I can only imagine how her presence would help a first-time mom - she is so gifted at working with women.
