Leah was a caring and compassionate nurse who touched the lives of so many with her bright and vibrant personality. On Sunday, January 22, the life of Leah Reay, RN on MST 5 night shift was taken as the result of a tragic car crash. Leah was a kind and compassionate nurse who was loved by many. Leah's outstanding contribution to nursing has been revealed through Caught in the Act of Caring cards before we rolled out the DAISY Award program even after her passing. Leah set the bar for nursing excellence at TVH. Here are a few words from the patients and staff about Leah.
"Leah was the Clinical Supervisor on a night in early January. There were many admissions to her floor. Many of the rooms were missing equipment, beds, etc. She did an incredible job preparing the rooms to accommodate the ED admissions on her floor. She only had one CNA for 27 patients. She managed her duties in a very efficient and effective way."
"Leah and co-conspirator Katie of Nursing Administration, surprised me the afternoon of my birthday, by singing Happy Birthday (in tune too) and giving me a red rosebud along with a card signed by lots."
"Leah called the interpreter line before she called us at home, to check what my mother-in-law wanted. Just awesome."
