Jordan Ramirez was walking by us with red eyes. We stopped him and he stated his patient had just passed away. We gave him a hug and he broke down in tears. This was his first patient to pass away. We told him to take a break and the other nurses would help. When he came back he told us that her favorite song was over the rainbow. He turned the TV off and took his phone out and put it on the patient and turned on the song. The family and Jordan were all crying and the patient slowly took her last breath with her favorite song playing. I went home thinking about this beautiful moment that totally touched my heart and soul. This is what nursing is truly about. The family was so appreciative of what Jordan had done. He told me it was a privilege to take care of her. What a wonderful young man; he deserves to be commended and recognized.
