K was Anna's patient for 2 nights. I stayed in his room both nights during her shifts; K was not conscious during this time. Anna was constantly looking for ways to make him more comfortable. He had episodes of sweating and she wiped him down and dried him off. She constantly wiped his mouth and applied chapstick to his dry lips. All of K's nurses were extraordinary and he was lucky they were there while he needed help. I think what makes Anna stand out for me is how she took care of me. My expectation is that the patient is cared for. Anna not only did that but also made me comfortable while I stayed with K. She showed compassion and empathy by holding K's hand during his last moments and comforting me after K passed. Simply saying thank you is not enough to repay the kindness and compassion that she showed me and my family.
