Becky Cunningham was the OR Nurse when our daughter had her first surgery to remove a lesion from her right temporal lobe. She is 11 years old, bright, fun, loving and so precious to us. There are no words to describe our worry for her during surgery even though we knew she would have excellent care. We managed to say goodbye to her and then we went to the waiting room and waited, and waited, and waited some more. Becky came to tell us how things were going often during that long day; it was about an eight hour surgery. She told us what the doctors were doing and that Annie was tolerating everything well.
Over and over during the day she helped us know that our daughter was okay. Becky was calm, compassionate, thorough and knowledgeable. She was just the right person for the difficult job of giving updates to worried parents. When we finally saw our precious child in the PICU in the late afternoon, her stuffed beagle had a gauze wrapped around it's head - Becky's handiwork again! So thoughtful and sweet! Becky Cunningham is an extremely compassionate nurse and is highly deserving of the DAISY Award.
