I received an award nomination from one of NICU parents & felt I needed to elaborate more than what the parent said. Maria attended the delivery of the infant & had a close connection w/ the family. The infant is still a patient & Maria continues to be someone the family looks to for guidance & support. She has been a dedicated employee for 16 years. She is the epitome of this award. Preceptor for several years. The nurses that she has oriented have been a great example of her leadership, knowledge & skill. She has great knowledge & skill in her area of expertise- loves to share it w/ anyone who asks. Encourages family to be part of infant care & most of all supports spiritual beliefs of the family. Great resource to colleagues & has dedication that is visible to all around her. Excellent teacher to everyone & never misses opportunity to learn as well. Worked in Newborn Svcs her entire career. Greatly respected by all of physicians- they value her opinion & observations. Great resource to new docs & part of their learning process. Works well w/ other departments & never had a complaint. One of NICU's strongest charge RN's on nights. Graduate of Management Academy & implements what she learned. Well respected by colleagues & strong influence on everyone. Rachel Rivas, RNC, Interim Administrative Director, Newborn Services
Maria is a beautiful person with a very caring heart. She watched over my baby girl, Akuu, with gentle hands. Took time to educate me on what my baby was going through & what I could do to help in her care. She is an asset to the NICU team.
