Devonne was a free person who spent her time going back and forth helping multiple OR rooms get ready for their cases. She was focusing her energy on assisting a case in another room which required a great deal of extra equipment and supplies.

I lost a very small needle in the beginning part of a surgery and kept looking for it while we were under the microscope. Once it was appropriate, my circulator and I tried to find the needle, but had started the process of documenting that a needle was lost and considered calling for an X-ray. Devonne came into our room to get a pan and asked if we needed anything. I said, "Yes help us find this needle". She delivered the pan to the room that needed it and immediately returned to our room to help look for the needle. She quickly found the needle on the opposite side of where I was standing and did so with a smile. Her quick action and determination helped us to ensure that safe care was delivered to our patient. She is simply the best.

Devonne confirmed that our surgical count was correct and that no counted item was left in the child's surgical wound. A SEMS report and xray would have had to be performed had she not found the needle. She was a fresh set of eyes who knew the importance of finding that needle and was determined to find it. She provides superior patient care every day and is an outstanding co-worker.
