My 14-year-old son has a fear of hospitals; he's had many bad experiences. When I got the call from school that he had a bad leg fracture, I was worried how he was going to be. Dana greeted him with a warm smile and a soothing presence. I saw his anxiety level drop. Dana's shift was over shortly after we arrived, however, she stayed for over 2 hours to just be with him; to continue to advocate his needs and calm his fears. She explained to him what the plan was for him and reassured him that he would be ok. He laughed, joked and felt very safe with her by his side. I'm forever grateful for her as she changed his mind about hospitals. He and all of us had a wonderful encounter because of Dana.
