Recently, LaQuita brought her patient to the OR and was by his side while he went to sleep. As she was counting and completing her pre-surgical tasks, the surgeon and his PA were positioning the patient. The surgeon stated that the robot needed to be moved. When LaQuita turned to look at what the surgeon was talking about, she realized that he had positioned the patient for a right nephrectomy instead of the scheduled left. As the patient's advocate, LaQuita spoke up to the physician, confirmed the correct laterality with the consent, chart, and schedule. She saved the patient from having the wrong kidney removed.
LaQuita always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. As medical care providers, we are often picky about who takes care of us, but I can say hands down, LaQuita can care for me and my family.
