Dorris Barry is the consummate patient advocate.

Dorris cared for a patient that presented with a PCA pump from Hospice. She knew this was not our equipment, and that we needed to ensure we utilized the correct method to manage the patient's pain. She advocated for the patient relentlessly, questioning multiple nurses and departments that did not have the answer or solution. She continued to follow chain of command until the patient had the correct pain management for comfort AND hospital policy. Through her very thorough assessment and determination, she exhibited the CHRISTUS Core Values of Excellence, Integrity, Dignity and Compassion.
