... Whether she is caring for a child, a mother who has just miscarried, an elderly patient who has fallen or the critically ill Julie always remains positive and professional. I encourage all my PACU nurses to treat their patients as they would want to be treated but Julie never misses a beat when it comes to this. Julie Thompson is the kind of nurse everyone wants in their department and the kind of nurse you measure other nurses to. She always goes above and beyond to ensure that the patient's and the family's needs are met.
Julie was an ER charge nurse for many years before coming to the PACU. Therefore, her critical care skills far surpass those around her. She always remains calm in difficult situations using a clear mind to come up with a solution. She is always willing to help those around her during their difficult situations and even teaches them something new along the way. She is the nurse who can anticipate a problem before it occurs and correct the problem before we have a negative outcome. No matter the situation her positive attitude, big smile and contagious laugh continues to shine through even in the most difficult or busiest times of the day. I can always count on her to make the correct decision that is best for not only the patient and their family but for the hospital and our department. If all of our nurses were as reliable as Julie Thompson then there would be no way to not receive and EXCELLENT marking from all of our patients.
