I am a nurse practitioner at Children's, but the tables were turned on me recently when my daughter was sick. All of a sudden my child was the patient. Allison took care of my daughter in the After Hours Clinic on Thursday, December 18. She was suffering from what we found out to be RSV and quickly decompensated while we were in the After Hours Clinic. Allison acted quickly and seamlessly working to stabilize her by getting her on a monitor, taking vital signs, and communicating with the physician. She acted quickly on any orders and was able to start an IV on my daughter with the first stick though she was very dehydrated. She drew all the labs needed efficiently and saved us time to have them already done once we arrived to the ED. Once the labs were drawn she quickly started a fluid bolus and oxygen all the while constantly assessing Hannah and communicating with her physician. Her clinical skills and knowledge were superb, which was a relief to me as a mother who watched helplessly as her daughter quickly decompensated. Allison was instrumental in stabilizing my daughter's condition so that we could be transported by ambulance to the ED.
