My husband needed his shoulder put back in place because it became displaced. He was going to go under sedation for this. He was NPO and had to have all pre-op testing done. Throughout the process, Shona Clark was so kind and professional. I could only stay for a couple of hours then had to leave. Shona not only kept me informed along the way with all that was happening, but she also stood in the gap for my husband and made sure the doctor was aware and capable of making decisions and signed consent.
You see, my husband has Parkinson's disease, and along with many other issues, his speech has been greatly impacted and he is very difficult to understand. So, people tend to think he isn't aware of what is going on. So, as his wife, I was so grateful to have someone there looking out for him. It gave me such a sense of peace of mind to know he was such capable and compassionate hands. Shona treated my husband with dignity and respect. She even went to the cafeteria to get him something to eat because of his NPO status all day. He was finally allowed to eat and what was sent was not appealing to him. It makes all the difference knowing that my loved one was/is being well cared for. Thank you very, very much!
