My father has been in ICU for 2 weeks now at 2 different hospitals. I walked in to see my dad and Randolph was his nurse. He asked me to tell him about my dad, what were things he loved, what he did for work. I was so blown away by his genuine concern and care for my dad. He had so much compassion towards the end of our visit, he asked me to bring a picture in for my dad, something that brought him joy. I talked to him about a cruise my parents took a year before. When we returned the next day with the picture, he remembered it was from their cruise. All the nurses we have encountered over the past couple of weeks have been kind, but Randolph went above and beyond for us. He spent a lot of time explaining each thing they were doing for my father and never acted like we were bugging him or like he had better things to do. He was so patient and compassionate towards my father and my family. He is the definition of what an excellent nurse is and Kaiser is lucky to have him. It brings tears to my eyes when I think about his level of concern for his patients. He didn't treat my dad just like this was his job, he treaded him with genuine compassion and tenderness.
