My wife of 14 years was recently blindsided by a colon cancer diagnosis at age 44. It was by chance we were alerted to her cancer. Her brother had recently passed away and the stress caused my wife to have gastro issues. One morning she woke to a pool of blood. We went to the emergency room and the physician advised us to follow up with a gastroenterologist. We expected a routine colonoscopy to confirm an internal hemorrhoid bleed but instead, they found a mass.
Shortly thereafter, my wife had surgery to remove the mass at CentraState Medical Center. One of the amazing nurses that cared for her wasLaurie Jaffe. She is proficient, caring and nurturing. Lori took care of my wife in the PACU. When I walked into the recovery room to see my wife, I became emotional watchingLaurie earnestly search to comfort and simultaneously assess my wife's recovery progress. I thanked her profusely for caring for my wife.
We were so happy thatLaurie took the time to pop up to visit with my wife after surgery. Wow, this place is lucky to have her.Laurie was a truly real person. You could feelLaurie's genuine desire to care and nurture and you could see the advanced level of her skill set. We are so grateful for this talented and compassionate professional. She exemplifies one true basic element of humanity, compassionately caring for people when they cannot help themselves.
