Excuse my writing, I am blind doing my best to tell you about 2 nurses - daytime RN Jennifer, I call her prettier than Jennifer Lopez, and PM RN, Bonnie. First of all, I hate being away from home. Being wheeled off the elevator I saw a blur of a body. I heard a familiar voice call my name. I recognized that voice as Miss Jennifer. Last time I was on her floor, we shared a lot of laughs. I was nervous back then too. She had me settled in and relaxed. She treated me like an old friend and not just a patient. She brought in some nurses and told them I loved to make them laugh. No special treatment but all treated me with respect. Saw I was nervous at times and they let me know I was in the best place for care.
My breathing is hard. They would look in on me just to say "hi". Another familiar voice, a nurse who worked on the 6th floor for 3 sleep studies. I got to know Miss Bonnie. She checked on me and when I could not breathe, I hit the panic button. At night Bonnie came in above and beyond duties. She held my hands as I sucked in air fighting for it. She told me about her lungs. I tried saying "Hard to Breathe"! Her voice was calm. She got my breathing down to manageable. Everyone who worked there - above and beyond.
I believe any new nurses should work on the third floor and should learn from these 2 leaders. I have been on other floors - trust me - RNs, LPNs, CNAs follow the lead nurse's words and actions.
Not once did any of these angels walk into a room with a bad or nasty mood, never ignoring anyone. They all lit up my room with the way they treat the patients and their families.
The nurses, doctors, techs, CNAs on the 3rd floor are Heaven Sent Angels on Earth. So much more I can say but words alone won't do. They are to be applauded and praised for going above and beyond. These people remind me of the old days where people take pride in their work.
