Kim, there are multiple isolated instances that I can share about your extraordinary care as you embody this character 365 days a year. I will just share a few memories from the last several months. I will never forget the bond that you created with PJ. When it was time for her to leave our hospital and go to hospice, you decided that she could not go in one of our gowns because if you knew PJ she was always put together. You saw fit to go to the gift shop and buy her matching pajamas in her favorite color, pink, so she could leave as she came in: put together. PJ then later shared with us how wonderful she felt in those pajamas, sending us a photo from Hospice House. When you were concerned that her treatment was being delayed because she needed dental clearance before she could get her medication, and cost may have prevented her ability to get her treatment timely, you made an appointment for PJ with your dentist- and covered the cost. Yes, I do believe PJ managed to get it done, but it was your action without question that makes you exceptional. Kim, you are awesome and a friend, you are the warmest person. It was your face they saw before the hospice nurses got to their home, it was your occasional visits to check in that they remember. It is your unwavering compassion and commitment that The DAISY Award is intended. You never missed a beat.
