I have been a patient of Dr. B for many years, almost 4 to be exact. Jackie has stood out to be an outstanding nurse and person. Whenever I bring in my kids she is there to help us, judgment-free. She treats everyone she sees with respect and kindness. She makes the horrible scary doctor's office a place to smile and enjoy. If I am ever nervous about anything she will talk to me, ask me why I am feeling the way I do and go over anything she needs to with me. She takes the time out to treat me and my kids like a person, not just a patient or a number.
Jackie always has a smile on her face. If I need anything she always finds a way in her ability to help. She welcomes me and my family with so much compassion. In moments when I think you don't want to touch my sick child, she does without any hesitation. When I am embarrassed or worry she just does what she needs to. Never treating my children any sort of special way no matter what is going on.
I brought my daughter in for an acute visit and just by listening to me and asking questions she was able to perform a test on my daughter that led to her getting the correct treatment. She always is willing to listen to me ramble on or listen to any concern I have (even if they are crazy and there is no basis for my reasoning.) Sometimes all it takes is someone to listen to put your mind at ease and that is exactly what she does. She also addresses any concerns that I might have with the doctor. She and the doctor communicate very well and are an amazing team. You know your children will get the quality care they need with that team.
Even when I brought in my kids and Jackie was not their nurse she always makes a point to ask how they are doing. When my kids are seeing her she treats them with respect. No matter how big or small the problem is she listens to all of my concerns. I remember once when my son was sick and fussy, he wanted to go with Jackie and sure enough she took him to help her get what we needed, she explained to him what she was getting and doing. I trusted her to take him and he trusted her so much that now when she has to do anything with him he is ok with it and not scared.
After I had my daughter and medical problems, I remember sitting on the floor feeling so poorly. Jackie went to get me crackers and a drink and gave me a minute to get myself together. She then helped my boyfriend with my daughter (not an easy task). In a moment that I felt so sick, she was able to give me the time I needed even if it meant her being behind and still keep everything going and together. She also talked to me about taking care of myself. At that moment I realized that she genuinely cares for her patients and their family.
