I chose to nominate Angie for the DAISY Award because she is absolutely amazing at what she does. Angie has so much passion for hospice and is a great part of our team. Working with her Monday-Friday has been a great experience for me as a nurse tech because she has taught me so much about hospice and is always willing to answer all my questions or concerns. Alongside being such a great team member, with all her knowledge of hospice, she knows what works and doesn't work in pretty much any situation that arises. She thinks about what is best for the patient and is sure to gather input from the families about what her next step is about to be.
You can tell families really appreciate Angie being so knowledgeable and answering their questions during these times. I admire her so much for this. In the past few weeks, this situation that occurred has stuck with me. We had a patient who was close to passing away and Angie did a great job educating the family all morning of what was happening. She jumped right in to make sure the patient was comfortable in every possible way. I was observing her particularly that day because of how well she kept herself together, this was not an easy situation and I could see it in her eyes she wanted to just break down, but she kept doing what she needed until the situation went calm. She was so caring for the patient and for the family as well. This is just one time I've shared with you all, but Angie is well deserving of this award for how hard she works, how dedicated she is and a great nurse she is.
