During my father's time in the ICU, when Alexis was our nurse over the course of 4 days, she made a lasting impact on all our lives. From the moment we met Alexis she took the time and care to make sure we understood everything that was going on, explained all the tests and procedures, what we should expect, and what to prepare for. Her level of communication and care was exemplary.
Alexis was a calming influence on my mom, not only providing insight and perspectives, but she always brought energy and optimism to each day. That attitude and feeling was infectious to our family and provided a sense of reassurance during a time of uncertainty. She was a shoulder to cry on and a rock to depend on that helped my mom through long days.
Alexis's level of expertise, confidence, professionalism, attention to detail, concern, bedside manner, and overall positive personality not only made her stand out but endeared her to our family. So much so that she became a part of our family. Alexis will always be remembered by us. It is for all these reasons that we feel Alexis deserves to be recognized by receiving the DAISY Award.

Alexis DiFranco was my husband's nurse for 4 days. She is compassionate, caring, informative, has wonderful; bedside manner-not enough adjectives to do her work ethic justice. During our very difficult time, she was positive and upbeat to all my family. She became an extension of our family while providing the highest level of nursing and as such is deserving of recognition within your organization. Definitely a "gold star" in our lives!
